Connections - Kirkintilloch

I have worked with Connections since 2012. This is working with people with mild to moderate mental health issues such as anxiety and stress. I work with different service users in blocks of 6 weeks. I am currently working with my 8th group. Connections are currently applying for internal funding to put on a play at some point in the future.

North West Women's Centre

I started working with the women - who suffer social and economic deprivation, and in some cases domestic abuse - in this centre in August 2013. I wrote and we performed a play called 'A Kaunas Catastrophe' in March 2014. I then wrote a second play, 'Welcome to Glasgow', which was performed in August 2014.

RAMH

Recovery Across Mental Health (RAMH)

Date Performed October 2015. Name of Play – 'Mental Health – Getting Better.' Written for Recovery Across Mental Health (RAMH). I wrote, produced, directed and starred in this play.

Funded by Renfrewshire Council, and part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, this play explored the history of mental health treatment in Renfrewshire. Performed in Johnstone Town Hall, The Wynd Theatre, Paisley, and Paisley Abbey.

Hope for Autism Siblings, Airdrie

I wrote and directed a play called 'What's the matter with Alice?' working with young siblings of those with autism. We
performed the play in November 2016.

I worked with this group of service users - adults with learning difficulties - conducting drama workshops from May until December 2014.

Made 4U - Wishaw

I worked with a summer club of children form 6 to 12 at this centre in Wishaw in July and August 2014.

I wrote a small play about the Commonwealth Games which was performed at their open day.

Muslim Day Care Centre, Central Mosque, Glasgow

I worked with elderly women service users at this Day Care Centre from May until October 2014.

I wrote a play called 'A Day in the Life/Zindaqi Ka Ayrk Din which was translated into Urdu and performed at the Centre in October.

Cornerstone Airdrie

I started working with Cornerstone - adults with learning difficulties - in February 2014. I wrote a pantomome of 'Snow White and the 11 Dwarfs' which was performed at Airdrie Town Hall in front of an audience of 300 in December 2014.

I started working with Inclusion - adults with learning difficulties - in March 2015. We performed 'Oliver in August 2015 and 'Snow White and the 8 Dwarves' in The Grand Ole Opry, Glasgow, in February 2016.

I worked with elderly people in a day centre from January until June 2013.

NHS - Leverndale Psychiatric Hospital.

I worked with patients in Leverndale from January until June 2013. I wrote and directed a play called 'Friends United' for them. We performed it for patients and staff in June and it went down very well. It was enormous fun and I would like to thank all the patients and staff who took part in that.

YOUR VOICE - Greenock

'Your Voice' in Greenock is a collaboration of many agencies around the Inverclyde area who deal with people recovering from substance and alcohol misuse. I wrote and directed a play for them called 'Road to Recovery' which was performed at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock to a capacity 120 audience in August 2013 and received a standing ovation. The theme's of this play were recovery, stigma, and the effect on the families of addicts.
